Cheap electronic gifts Wholesale
SEO Case Study: cheap-electronic-gifts.com
Today I purchased a new domain name to see how well I can do with PageRank, Back Links, Alexa Ranking, MSN and Yahoo Results. The domain is a newly created domain so I will have to start from scratch. The content will be an eCommerce site focusing on discount electronic gifts with a focus towards wholesale. The Software package on the domain is osCommerce, Which I find difficult to search engine optimize. I installed the software in a subdirectory on the domain called /4u/ so the full URL will be http://cheap-electronic-gifts.com/4u/
I have setup the domain, email server and software package. I have created a permanent 301 redirect from http://cheap-electronic-gifts.com to http://cheap-electronic-gifts.com/4u/ and set up my keywords, phrases and description meta data. I must admit that I did not spend alot of time developing keywords. I found a top ranker in google for where I want to be and did what they did.
I have also submitted the domain to a couple of search engines using http://submitexpress.com and http://freewebsubmission.com/ to get the domain indexed and spidered…. I will submit this article and ping this blog via one of my favorite pinger sites http://pinger.blogflux.com/ .
Current stats:
PageRank 0
Alexa Rank 0
Back Links 0
MSN Search Results 0
Yahoo! Search Results 0
My next task is to get some back links from some electronic wholesaler type sites.
I will keep you posted.
I added PPC namely Google and Bidvertiser.
I posted two similar blogs and seen one in Google already here:

Which points to a great forum with lots of traffic and good PR, The Free Ad Forum, I posted an article their and you can post free classified ads as well.
OK, it has been 24 hours. I have added alt text to images and generally made sure the products were legitimate.
I noticed that two spiders visited me.
spider-4.scrubtheweb.com
crawl-66-249-72-229.googlebot.com
Yesterday I found the main domain http://cheap-electronic-gifts.com in google SERPs when I searched google for the domain name http://cheap-electronic-gifts.com
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=http%3A%2F%2Fcheap-electronic-gifts.com
Oddly enough, the original post from the free ad forums that was showing up one day after the registration of the domain has disappeared from this search. In addition, if I just search cheap-electronic-gifts
the domain is beginning to populate the results.

One thing I have noticed is that the 10 or so back links I have published via forums and blogs are not showing up at all.
This domain is also being crawled by various sites….
Here are some of my stats for this domain:
I have changed the meta description tag a little. actually, I only added the word ‘gift’ in the description.
I have posted on a couple blogs and forums. I seem to be having a problem with statistics in regard to back links… I figure this to be caused by the ‘-’ (hypens) in the domain name.
PageRank 0
Alexa Rank 0
Back Links 554,001
MSN Search Results 0
Yahoo! Search Results 2,770,000
Earlier I stated that there were no backlinks or search results. This was not true. There were no back links or search results but it was saying rediculous numbers such as above so I thought it was an error and would fix itself. I have seen this problem before with domains with ‘-’ in the name. I bought a different domain name myballcap.com and when I check that domain all stats show as 0.
Here are some updated Stats:
Here is a new stat that showed up a couple days ago which I like to keep an eye on. These are search string queries that people entered in Search Engines. cheap-electronic-gifts.com showed in the result pages and the user clicked the link through to my site. Some of these are me testing my keywords.

So after two weeks, things look good. The domain is not invisible to search engines. I did tweak the keywords a tiny bit around a week ago but I have not checked to see if I the domain is found in search engines on that particular modification.
At this point, I think I should focus on a few more backlinks, get a few more products up on the main domain and make sure that I stay visible in the search engines and not be sandboxed for one of a thousand reasons. I will post in the middle of June.
